Hi all, I've been told by many pan players that to avoid your drum going out of tune, never allow direct sunlight on your pan, although it's okay to play in the shade in very hot weather. What about cold weather? Is there any guidance on a cold temperature threshold not to play in outdoors? Thanks!
This is the lead pan sheet music for a song named "Mercy Mercy Mercy". I try to keep them to one page but the lyrics prohibited that feat. Enjoy!
The backing track is 6.4 MB. It is too large to be uploaded to this site. You can purchase it for $1.99 from http://www.karaoke-version.com/. You can even…Continue

My friend, Robert Mitrea, from Long Island, is selling his bored C lead with a 10 inch skirt. He said that it has a high gloss mirror chrome finish and was made in Trinidad. It has been recently tuned by Rob Davis from Mannette Instruments. Please contact me if you are interested and I will hook you up with Robert.…Continue
Panyard seems to offer two different models of steel drums. One they apparently make themselves. It is the more expensive of the two. The other they import from Trinidad. Does anyone have any experience with the ones that are imported from Trinidad? Are they good quality?
Thanks for any advice that anyone may have.

I don't think I'm the only one with this problem so I'll just say it. I learned some basic music reading when I was 10 or 11 when I was learning to play the organ (short lived) and I am used to seeing the chords written above the stanza. Without them how are we supposed to know what they are? If makes it more difficult to improvise a chord if you don't know what it is. Is there a particular reason you didn't place them in your books?
I think most of us can "feel" a change when the…Continue
