"Band hub collaborations"

Hello members, I have started a song collaboration on a site called "Band hub" and you can join in and upload videos of you playing along with me on various songs.  The first is yellowbird and you may get the sheet music here. You must record your part with the first video I have already uploaded. There are  instructions on the Band Hub site for how to record your part.

I can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

Learning Music?

Hi Brad and pan family,

As you being a teacher, I am interested in your approach to teaching someone the pan. I have been playing for about 5 years now. I do fine and have received many call-backs. (I'll load a video some day) My problem is I don't actually know music, as in theory. I can read the treble clef somewhat. I learned as a child of 9-11 to play the organ. I consider my self a parrot. I can imitate the music very well…

In The Mood

In 1939 Joe Garland wrote a tune that was recorded by, among others, Glenn Miller named "In The Mood".  Although it was originally written in Bb Major, I had to transpose it into C Major because some of those low notes do not exist on a tenor lead pan.  Hope you enjoy.

Conga

Thursday, August 21, 2104

The attached lead tenor pan sheet music is named "Conga".  It was recorded by Gloria Estefan.  Originally, it was written in the key of G major.  The attached version has been transposed to the key of C major.  It is more complex than the other tunes I have posted.

Free Pan Music

Sunday, August 10, 2014

Brad,

Thank you for approving my membership.  I bought all of your available music last year.  Also, I downloaded the free music writing software named MuseScore.  It was used to create the Vietnam war protest song performed by Country Joe McDonald that was performed at Woodstock and was named "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die".  It is attached to this post in PDF format.  Given the age of the song and the fact that it can be downloaded for free from…

Tuning in Germany / Europe

Hello everyone,

yesterday my pan was retuned. in 1.5 hours it sounds very nice again.

Mr. Eckhard Schulz and Martin Speck explained a lot to me about the Pan that I had acquired. Very interesting.

Here is the address if someone wants a tuning in Europe or a new Pan Made in Germany.

seeking backtracks and sheet music

I play double tenor and am looking to buy quality backtracks with corresponding sheet music to add  to my repertoire. I'm a strict reader and weak with improv.  Brad Shores has been a Big help and I have all 9 of his books.  Any other suggestions for expanding my repertoire?  Thanks!

Pan Kat

Alternate Mode Pan KAT

Up for auction is a Pan KAT Midi Steel Drum that I used to play reggae tunes.  I have had the Pan KAT for 10 + years but really only used it for about a year to play solo steel drum and some Jimmy Buffett tunes for friends (I am a guitar player).  The original unit cost about $1,800 without the case and I am offering it up for $825 plus shipping.  I used an older Roland MIDI sampler (not included) for the steel drum sounds but IndigiSounds (YouTube link…
