"John, outstanding insights on the B.  I find your comments on B to be familiar with my own experience for my own pan.  My latest tune has produced B at its best so far."

Pan Sound - Need tuning or just the way it is..

I have had my pan for about 2 months.  I started learning with a set of lessons I purchased online and I am now working to learn songs from Brad's books.  Just this week, I realized that the Bb on my pan (in the outer ring) doesn't really ring at all, meaning it makes a sound when I hit it, but the sound doesn't linger like the other notes.  I don't know if it has always been that way and I was just too focused on hitting the right place at the right time, or if I did something to make it that…See More

"I too have a Humes & Berg case, LOVE it! I have a swimming pool noodle [ stout one, not the cheapest $2 one. a whopping $3.50  ...lol..] around the bottom. The rim of the drum rests on it (shock absorber) and protects the bowl. (keeps it…"

Pan Kat

Alternate Mode Pan KAT

Up for auction is a Pan KAT Midi Steel Drum that I used to play reggae tunes.  I have had the Pan KAT for 10 + years but really only used it for about a year to play solo steel drum and some Jimmy Buffett tunes for friends (I am a guitar player).  The original unit cost about $1,800 without the case and I am offering it up for $825 plus shipping.  I used an older Roland MIDI sampler (not included) for the steel drum sounds but IndigiSounds (YouTube link…

Advanced pan technique

So there are lots of books and videos on how to play pan - all the ones I've seen are for beginners. Anybody know of Advanced technique books? I see LiamTteague does a beginner book- I would love for him to do one for more advanced players.
