Just curious to know if any of you have a "moving charge"....money charged to the client for "relocating" you after the first set.  If you do charge, is it in your contract, or do you just spring it on them?

I have a "moving charge" clearly stated in the contract and am sooooo happy that I do.

It's "made" me money a few times and saved me extra moving at others.

i guess i did use it once also..paid off nicely

I have had to do it once and they offered to pay when they asked, so that was good. Nothing in the contract.

I charge a moving fee ( cartage) depending on how far the move is.  For example, Some customers rent beach houses and have their ceremonies on the beach and a cocktail hour at the house. That is a an easy move so I do not charge for that. However, If i had to leave the beach and go to a whole new venue as  part of the same wedding then I charge accordingly. I ask these question beforehand and include it in my overall fee.

Brad, I charge $25/man/move. It's mainly meant to discourage moving. I try to determine if moving is necessary when negotiating the contract. If they spring the moving requirement on me then I spring the price on them.

Tuning in Germany / Europe

Hello everyone,

yesterday my pan was retuned. in 1.5 hours it sounds very nice again.

Mr. Eckhard Schulz and Martin Speck explained a lot to me about the Pan that I had acquired. Very interesting.

Here is the address if someone wants a tuning in Europe or a new Pan Made in Germany.

seeking backtracks and sheet music

I play double tenor and am looking to buy quality backtracks with corresponding sheet music to add  to my repertoire. I'm a strict reader and weak with improv.  Brad Shores has been a Big help and I have all 9 of his books.  Any other suggestions for expanding my repertoire?  Thanks!

Pan Kat

Alternate Mode Pan KAT

Up for auction is a Pan KAT Midi Steel Drum that I used to play reggae tunes.  I have had the Pan KAT for 10 + years but really only used it for about a year to play solo steel drum and some Jimmy Buffett tunes for friends (I am a guitar player).  The original unit cost about $1,800 without the case and I am offering it up for $825 plus shipping.  I used an older Roland MIDI sampler (not included) for the steel drum sounds but IndigiSounds (YouTube link…
