My teachers plays with four mallets on his double tenor and I was wondering if any one has/is playing using four mallets on the lead pan. How do you adjust to the two extra sets of mallets?

Cool. Post some videos
Hi Chris
I've been messing around with 4 mallets for minor chords but it will take practice like anything else.
For Cmin I'll grab the C-G (first n fifth ) and the Bb-Eb ( b3 n b7th ) with the other 2. It sounds sweet but it's tricky to change to other chord. Still I'm not giving up on it.
I also created what I call the 7th stick. ( my teacher thinks I'm crazy : ) Two sticks. one's 12 inches long and the other in normal size. For C7 I grab the G n Bb with the 7th stick and the A on the other side of the pan with the normal stick. It takes practice but works well for comping on a song like WATERMELON MAN which is all 7ths. I play a low C pan
Good Luck

I have been doing four mallets on Oye Como Va when I just play the same part as the organ. MY backtrack includes the organ solo and I made a tiny percussion solo as well.

Hello everyone,
yesterday my pan was retuned. in 1.5 hours it sounds very nice again.
Mr. Eckhard Schulz and Martin Speck explained a lot to me about the Pan that I had acquired. Very interesting.
Here is the address if someone wants a tuning in Europe or a new Pan Made in Germany.

I play double tenor and am looking to buy quality backtracks with corresponding sheet music to add to my repertoire. I'm a strict reader and weak with improv. Brad Shores has been a Big help and I have all 9 of his books. Any other suggestions for expanding my repertoire? Thanks!

Alternate Mode Pan KAT
Up for auction is a Pan KAT Midi Steel Drum that I used to play reggae tunes. I have had the Pan KAT for 10 + years but really only used it for about a year to play solo steel drum and some Jimmy Buffett tunes for friends (I am a guitar player). The original unit cost about $1,800 without the case and I am offering it up for $825 plus shipping. I used an older Roland MIDI sampler (not included) for the steel drum sounds but IndigiSounds (YouTube link…
