We seem to be missing a major conversation topic.  I recently purchased an iPad and am extremely happy with the ForScore application!  The process is a little tedious but once it's there it's amazing!

• Scan your music into the computer & save as PDF files.

• Once you purchase the app for $5, attach the iPad & navigate to the "apps" menu.  Click on "ForScore" and you can add PDF files to the application.

• As you click on each file you can rename the title, composer, genre, keywords, add difficulty and a rating.  PLUS (and this is where it gets really cool) YOU CAN LINK UP MP3s FROM EACH PDF into iTunes!

No flipping through your book to search for charts.  It's all on one scroll menu.

Glare resistant in the sun.

Lit screen is good when the sun goes down!

Contains more charts than a single binder can hold.  Easier to carry/pack than a book.

Synching up songs to the charts means everything is in one place!

The iPad screen is smaller than a regular page.

Technology Fails - bring a backup at all times (I take my computer, iPad AND iPod with a book to every gig).

Page turning on multi-page PDFs needs to be done by pressing the page (I think there's a pedal you can get to do this)

Don't forget to set your screen not to go dim for 5-10 min depending on song length.

Pan Kat

Alternate Mode Pan KAT

Up for auction is a Pan KAT Midi Steel Drum that I used to play reggae tunes.  I have had the Pan KAT for 10 + years but really only used it for about a year to play solo steel drum and some Jimmy Buffett tunes for friends (I am a guitar player).  The original unit cost about $1,800 without the case and I am offering it up for $825 plus shipping.  I used an older Roland MIDI sampler (not included) for the steel drum sounds but IndigiSounds (YouTube link…

Advanced pan technique

So there are lots of books and videos on how to play pan - all the ones I've seen are for beginners. Anybody know of Advanced technique books? I see LiamTteague does a beginner book- I would love for him to do one for more advanced players.
